The waited White House Correspondents’ Association Gala took place finally the last Saturday, May 1, such as we reported the last week here.  It was a celebrity gathering so star-studded, it could have been Oscar night.

And heading up the very impressive guest list was, of course, American’s most powerful couple, President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle, who looked radiant in a full-length red Prabal Gurung off-the-shoulder gown teamed with beautiful jewels worthy of the striking dress.

Our Michelle Pfeiffer walked the red carpet dressed in black (you can read my opinion below) alongside her husband, producer David E. Kelley and posed with director -and friend- Steven Spielberg and wife Kate Caspaw, who were sharing table during the dinner. Both couples were the guests of Time magazine. Also over the red carpet, we could see other screen beauties including Scarlett Johansson, Jessica Simpson and Jessica Alba.

Once inside, every celebrity had the chance to mingle with stars from the silver screen including Bradley Cooper, Ewan McGregor, Alec Baldwin and Sex and the City’s Cynthia Nixon and Kristen Davies, musicians Jon Bon Jovi, the Jonas Brothers and Justin Bieber as well as famous faces like Kim Kardashian.

Despite the presence of so many celebrities, the president was the real star of the show.

His speech had the 3000-strong audience in stitches as he poked fun at chat show host and comedian Jay Leno, who took to the stage after the president’s address.

“It’s been quite a year. Lots of ups, lots of downs – except for my approval ratings, which have just gone down,” he quipped. “I am glad that the only person whose ratings fell more than mine last year is here tonight. Great to see you, Jay!”

“I’m also glad that I’m speaking first because we’ve all seen what happens when somebody takes the timeslot after Leno’s,” the dad-of-two joked in reference to Jay’s controversial replacement of Conan O’Brien.

Hollywood heavyweights Morgan Freeman and Michael Douglas were also at the event.

Well… and now… what do you think about the style of Michelle in this Gala?

Sadly I have to say that I don’t like it at all!… I don’t know the designer but perhaps it remembers me that outfit that Michelle dressed at the Fashion Group International’s 21st Annual Night of Stars on November, 2004, where Pfeiffer gave the prize to Armani… do you remember…? but the current one much more overdone!!

What’s happened Michelle?… we’re got into bad habits!… well, perhaps our Michelle and Cate Kaspaw were on shopping together… Who knows? Definitely I miss Armani…

… And here my very first impression when I saw the first pictures in the Gala… I thought in a Christmas tree but in Black! ;-P

The truth is that it hasn’t got a great box office since the movie was released in the country too late, January 29 of 2010, and in very little cinemas.

Sadly, we all know that the movie hasn’t got expectations worldwide. The total box-office in the World to date is $8,966,022, and of them just the 30.3% ($2,715,657) was got in its domestic release which was done in a way “limited“.

Many of us were hoping that it had been the great return of Michelle Pfeiffer and even put her on the race for the Academy Awards of this year, but the little gross and cold reviews of the movie did that pfans’ dreams didn’t come true. Our only consolation was see her doing, you know, her stellar appearance as a presenter…

On the other hand, also Turkey is other country where the film can be still seen, with a cinema too.

Anyway our expectations go on!

A scientific study has concluded that lowering your voice is an instinctive means of demonstrating attraction to the opposite sex. In a test, men and women were asked to phone three people after only seeing their photographs.

One target was described as ‘attractive’, one ‘unattractive’ and one ‘average-attractive’. When they called the person rated most attractive they lowered their voice the most. “We found that both sexes used a lower-pitched voice and showed a higher level of physiological arousal when speaking to the more attractive opposite-sex target,” said the study by American psychologists from Albright College, in Pennsylvania, and the University of Baltimore.

The test involved 20 male and 25 female students from Albright College and the tone of voice was backed up by ‘galvanic skin response’, a test where electrodes measured physiological changes in the skin, “this study provides evidence that both sexes tended to lower the pitch of their voices when communicating with more attractive targets.”

So it seems that Hollywood and the press haven’t lost their love affair with the Obama administration. It’s all about Hollywood couples at this year’s event. Time magazine has invited Steven Spielberg and Kate Capshaw and Michelle Pfeiffer and David E. Kelley, and Vanity Fair’s table will have Tom and Kathy Freston, John and Elaine Mellencamp, film producer Jerry Weintraub, songwriter T. Bone Burnett of “Crazy Heart” fame and “Thelma and Louise” screenwriter Callie Khouri and Vernon and Ann Jordan. But its guests aren’t only from the entertainment world: The magazine also scored Google chief executive officer Eric Schmidt. And considering his new movie “Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps” is on its way to theaters, it makes sense Michael Douglas would be seated at Fortune’s table, with banking analyst Meredith Whitney, who presumably won’t be asking Douglas to repeat “Greed is good” over and over. Also among the guest are Cindi Leive, Jessica Alba and husband Cash Warren.

The guest list isn’t totally predictable, though: GQ’s Washington correspondent Ana Maria Cox is bringing Rhett Miller, lead singer of the Old 97s.

Let’s remember that Michelle isn’t new attending events with presidents or “future” presidents.

On September 17, 1992, the actress attended to a dinner in support to the campaign of Bill Clinton for president. The evening took place at the mansion of the king of the estate bussines Ted Field in LA where there was a large number of celebrities. Quincy Jones gave a speech, Whoopi Goldberg chated with everybody, Dionne Warwick sang «Amazing Grace» and even Warren Beatty sang too. Though the star performance was by Barbra Streisand. Among the guests also there are Steven Spielberg, Candice Bergen, Jack Nicholson, Dustin Hoffman, Christine Lahti, Danny De Vito and Annette Bening.

On the other hand it shows her tendency democratic, so god for Pfeiffer!
