Frears regresa a …

CUADERNO CRÍTICO
Chéri
Stephen Frears
Reino Unido, Fr., Alem., 2009. Intérpretes: Michelle Pfeiffer, Frances Tomelty, Tom Burke, Rupert Friend. 92 min.

You can already read and download this huge bunch of magazines dated in 1982 and related to Grease 2 from several countries.
It is a part of my personal collection of stuff of Michelle Pfeiffer which I’ve been bought along the last 20 years.
This collection is for me my most valued asset and little by little I’ve been (and I am) sharing with you all. I’ve spent every one of savings to create this collection which is trying to grow day by day, and to share it, it needs time to …

The Spanish TV Channel TCM airs every Saturday its movie season of the “50 movies you must see before you die“, and tonight, it is dedicated to Dangerous Liaisons (1988) as one of them. It’s been edited this nice video with a review and information report about the Stephen Frears‘ movie (in Spanish).

You can read here some reviews of Chéri talking about the performance of Michelle Pfeiffer as Lea de Lonval. They have been taken from the net… some of them don’t like the movie, but almost all of them love the actress in the movie:
Kenneth Turan titles at the Chicago Tribune his review about Cheri “Period piece proves we’ve missed Pfeiffer“, and proves his love to Michelle:
“Michelle Pfeiffer is back, and her appearance in “Cheri” underlines not only how much she has been missed but also how much the world of …

American reviews of Chéri is coming, remember that the movie is arriving to USA and Canada this Friday. So new reviews talking about Michelle Pfeiffer is also coming… here this one from IndieWirew by Michael Koresky which raves with the performance of our Michelle!!
Cheri is ostensibly an examination of an aging Michelle Pfeiffer. A retired, past-her-prime courtesan in belle epoque Paris, Pfeiffer’s Lea de Lonval still wears her beauty well, yet the lines on her washed-out visage are difficult to ignore. There’s no doubt that Pfeiffer is brilliantly cast as …

These times that pfans are a bit sad and disappointment because the treatment of Personal Effects to be launched straight on DVD, Clint Morris from Moviehole defends Michelle Pfeiffer as “one of the best actresses working in Hollywood today” and writes that it seems one of the first positive reviews about the movie. His article “This time it’s Personal” raises his disagreement with the current movies-industry decisions to launch its projects where if “no monsters or Seth Rogen, then no, you’re going to direct to DVD…”

I guess you should remember the sad article “Would You Dump This Woman?” in Entertainment Weekly a year ago —February of 2008— where it was reported about the launch straight to Dvd of I Could Never Be Your Woman and the problems along the post-production of the film.
Well, now, such as we all know, since the new launch (also) straight to DVD of Personal Effects the upcoming 12th of May in the US, Entertainment Weekly comes back to report about it in a (even a shamer) article:
Michelle Pfeiffer goes straight …
