The pfan page on Facebook started in August, 2009 and since then it has gone getting more and more pfans who many of them have published their thoughts and their favorite pictures! Even the page has been the point of reunion, of chat and meeting for many of us!

Some facts about those pfans are that surprisely the 53% of them are girls-pfans and the 44% are boys-pfans.

The most of female-pfans are between 18 and 24 yeas old (they are the 17% of girls) and the male-pfans are between 25 and 34 years old (18%).

On the other hand, also surprisely, there are some very young pfans, although the number is very much less, the 14% are between 13 and 17 years old and of them the 11% are girls!! (only a 3% are boys)… perhaps young girls could see to Michelle like a mother… a role model?

If you missed the great surprise of the 82nd Academy Awards, -for pfans and non pfans- the glorious return of Michelle Pfeiffer to the Oscar stage, stunning in a red Carolina Herrera, to tribute and present the nomination of Jeff Bridges, you can watch it now!

Michelle Pfeiffer, Julianne Moore, Vera Farmiga, Colin Farrell and Tim Robbins take the stage to present the Best Actor category. Pfeiffer introduced Bridges, who eventually went on to win the Oscar for Best Actor, calling him one of the least vain actors around. The actress, remembering working with him on “The Fabulous Baker Boys” said:

“The make-up artist hand-paints onto his face every line and broken capillary she had just removed from mine. It is that kind of attention to detail and lack of vanity that has made Jeff not just a great actor, but a brilliant one.”

After Pfeiffer, Julianne Moore honored a Single Man’s Colin Firth; Vera Farmiga talked about working with Up in the Air’s George Clooney; Tim Robbins about Morgan Freeman claimed his fellow Shawshank Redemption inmate once messed up his name; and Colin Farrell admits that he once spooned Jeremy Renner while filming S.W.A.T..

It’s the thought of a pfan, so it must be respected!… I, as a pfan, am agree with Tim in the most of his whole post, but I can understand that wholehearted pfans couldn’t.

You know, they’re right though. She’s not famous anymore. She’s not on anyone’s radar. And that’s because she’s just not working. Plain and simple.

After 2007 she basically went back into retirement. She worked for what, a month in Personal Effects? And Cheri was a quick shoot too. Meanwhile, look at other actresses’ IMDBs, Sandra Bullock, Meryl Streep, Julia Roberts, their schedules are packed. They are still stars. Michelle Pfeiffer chooses not to be a star right now, and we can’t hold it against her, it’s her choice not to work. I really wish she would though. I think she’s been too comfortable in her money for a long time now and maybe just doesn’t have a passion for it. Or it could be from disappointment.

I Could Never Be Your Woman, Personal Effects, and Cheri were all huge flops. None of them even REALLY made it into theaters.

ICNBYW would’ve done better if it were released now because Paul Rudd is actually a star now.

Personal Effects would’ve been better if they did something colorful and funny and changed the whole look and story. AshtonKutcher’s audience likes to see him in something bubbly, not in something where he’s struggling to pass as a “real” actor. They also want to see him in something where he looks attractive, that means brighter colors, not the washed out look on his face with the perpetual blue tone.

I’d like to see Michelle Pfeiffer in something with nice color too, but not OVERcolored like in ICNBYW, I don’t know what they were thinking in post production. Something normal, like “Failure to Launch” (the movie sucked but it LOOKED nice for a light film).

Cheri sucked because they ran out of money and just threw a movie together with the little they had. Plus, no one knows who Rupert Friend is. If she did this movie with Orlando Bloom, it would have been seen by actual people.

Michelle Pfeiffer can’t head a film by herself anymore. Julia Roberts won’t even dare to do it, Duplicity had Clive Owen also, and that movie still didn’t do too well. The only one who’s succeeding is Sandra Bullock. She really made a great choice with The Proposal, making a funny, accessible movie. The Blind Side was a great choice too, definitely something different than she has ever done. Better than Personal Effects, that’s for sure

At this point, I think Michelle Pfeiffer should just rely on ensembles if she wants her movie seen… It’s sad as hell but it’s true. And I know that unless the part is really something great, she’ll never go for it.

She used to be A list, but she’ll never be again if she doesn’t WORK. She needs to fill up her schedule and actually do stuff. Right now her IMDB is still completely empty. And I have a feeling also that whatever she does decide to do will be a movie we won’t even like. Like “Chasing Montana“… yuck.

Anyway I wanted to take back that last statement, it was way too harsh. I’m sure we’ll enjoy whatever project she signs on to do next, if there is a project at all. Gotta stay positive.

I love her no matter what and will always be a pfan : )

I’d like to remind Tim is the autor of the amazing and exhaustive study “Aging Gracefully“, the debate whether or not Michelle Pfeiffer has had plastic surgery.

In 1996, in a readers poll made for the magazine to pick the most loved actors and actresses, Michelle Pfeiffer got the first place of the list, following Susan Sarandon, Emma Thopmson, Juliette Binoche and Jodie Foster…

Now, with the upcoming launch of Chéri in Spain, I wrote a letter to the editorial staff to ask for Michelle Pfeiffer on the cover. The las one was twelve years ago and I think that the magazine owed this one to our Michelle… But sadly they ignored my request and the new cover of the magazine this month features the young Scarlett Johansson, who -sure- has more followers these days.

And after reading the review they have dedicated to Chéri and Pfeiffer in this issue, I could understand their reasons:

Well, anyway I have to say that it is my favorite magazine, and every cover they have dedicated to Michelle, I’ve celebrated like a great event!. At the moment Michelle has got the cover four times: May, 1989 when Pfeiffer did her wonder-year with Married To The Mob, Tequila Sunrise and Dangerous Liaisons, the three movies coincided at Spanish cinemas in the same time and critics raved with her; In February 1994, thanks to The Age of Innocence –Michelle was on the top of her career–; the third one was in September 1996, with the release of Up Close & Personal; and the last one in May 1998 with A Thousand Acres.

So I’ve made one of my dreams come true!! Here, pfans, we have got our own “alternative” cover of Fotogramas dedicated to Michelle Pfeiffer! I hope you like it! ;-)

Yeah!! Perhaps I’m the only pfan in the world who had not seen the movie. Until now I had refused because I wanted watch the movie on a big screen only, so I did finally it yesterday! I’ve been tempted to see the movie on my computer downloading the movie from the net (it’s available in a thousand sites!) or buying it from UK or France. But I was sure I preferred to wait. This movie deserved be watched in a cinema, so I knew I hadn’t other options.

Such as I had reported, Cheri will be launched in Spain the upcoming January 29, one of the few countries where the movie hadn’t been released yet. The distributor AltaFilms organized yesterday morning the press screening and I attended alongside the Spanish movie critics.

Now I can tell you I liked the movie a lot! I loved the performance of Michelle Pfeiffer as Lea de Lonval, so as the rest of cast, Rupert Friend is amazing –and so handsome!– and Kathy Bates is really great! Of course the music, the set design and the costumes are excellent! What can I tell that it hasn’t been said before?

But my story yesterday was even more exciting: it starts the night before yesterday, I found on the net, according to a page of Spanish press, that besides the press screening at 10.00 a.m. on Tuesday –which I had been invited to attend–, it was scheduled a press conference with Stephen Frears and Michelle Pfeiffer also yerterday morning at 12.30 at a hotel in Madrid… so you can guess my exciting, my heart was turning crazy! Sadly, when I arrived to the cinema to attended the screening I was reported by the distributor staff that finally they hadn’t got to bring to Michelle but only Frear would be there, so I just was invited to attend de conference!

Of course, I did!

I arrived to the press conference getting a program of the movie (I’ll upload next) and a new edition of the book by Colette as a gift with the cover designed with the Spanish poster. I was so excited! I was going to see Stephen Frears in person… I really admire him since Dangerous Liaisons is my favorite movie of all times!

Stephen did his entrance and I was amazed! He is a serious and grave man. But after a first minutes being a bit shy, he was nice during the entire interview.

Journalists asked about Michelle, of course, and he was very good words to her:

“Michelle Pfeiffer is an actress unusual, she is a very very good actress. She is very professional and she is really good in her work”

About Pfeiffer in the movie he added:

“Michelle did a great work in Cheri. Michelle Pfeiffer comes from the deep California, she grew in Orange County, and Michelle has played in the movie a part very different of herself: a sophisticated and European woman… a courtesan.”

About the changes he has seen on Michelle since they did Dangerous Liaisons, he just said:

“Well, Michelle has children now, I have children now as well… simply we are older now!”

Director talked about the the differences between Liaisons and Cheri, also about his career and movies in general… actually no new stuff according to that we have heared from him in other interviews.

Definitely it was a great experience, and although Michelle Pfeiffer finally wasn’t here, it was a day to remind. I feel so happy living it! ;-)

The poll has had a total of 177 votes, and the winner kiss has been the Michelle Pfeiffer & Michael Keaton’s one in Batman Returns (1992) with the 41% of the votes. But it’s actually a shared kiss since Pfeiffer and Keaton gets these three significant kisses in the movie: the meeting on the sofa, the Catwoman’s lick to Batman and the kiss dancing in the party… so we can say that it is a three in one.

The second place if for Michelle Pfeiffer and George Clooney in One Fine Day (1996)… it wa really chemistry!. It has got the 24% of votes.

The third one is for Pfeiffer and Al Pacino in Frankie & Johnny (1991), the pasionate kiss in front of the flowers stock (my favorite one!… I think it was evident if you have watched the video!! ;-D) has got the 23%.

The fourth one is for Michelle Pfeiffer and Jeff Bridges in The Fabulous Baker Boys (1989). The torrid kiss after the famous Making Whoopie over the piano has got the 11%.

And the fifth place has been for the demure kiss betweem Pfeiffer and Daniel Day Lewis in The Age of Innocence (1993) with the 8%.

The year started with an unexpected appearance at Screen Actors Guilt Awards (SAG) at Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles on January 25th. Michelle and David E Kelley attended the event although they didn’t walk the red carpet. They just were photographed during the gala. Pfeiffer appeared with a change of look, the actress had cut her hair in a bob, and her outfit attracted attention to many of us since it was the same one she wear during the interview on Tonight Show with Jay Leno to promote Stardust in August, 2007.

The 10th of February came the expected attendance of Michelle at the 59th Berlin Film Festival, it was the World presentation of Chéri. The actress, with a curlier hairdo, dazzled in front of the photocall and posed alongside her partner in the movie, Rupert Friend, and the director Stephen Frears. Michelle wear a simple trenchcoat and later, for the press conference, she took off.

In the night, Pfeiffer walked the festival’s red carpet. I guess the most of pfans, me included, were waiting to see to Michelle in a new spectacular outfit, but it weren’t. Pfeiffer came back to repeat the same number designed by RM Roland Mouret she wear during the interview at the Late Show with David Letterman on June 16, 2007 to promote Hairspray. Anyway the actress was stunning again, and several style sites picked her as one of the “looks of the day”. Why has Michelle repeated past outfits for public events? Crisis? Who know?… But I think that just an actress with a such personality can do it, and she can. It says a lot about Michelle Pfeiffer.

Also during her stay in Berlin, the actress was promoting Chéri making interviews for the international press. And also so she did in London just later taking advantage of the European trip. Michelle appeared in both interviews wearing in black, the color was the lead in her style during this first part of the year. Pfeiffer showed a modest look as she does usually.

On April 17th, the actress started an early promotion of Cheri in the States with a press conference at the Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills, CA. Michelle did a radiant and colorful appearance wearing a printed top designed by her friend a co-star in Stardust (2007), Sienna Miller.

In the middle of June, it was announced that Michelle Pfeiffer would be the cover of the July issue of InStyle. The actress was photographed by Mark Abrahams for an extensive article and interview wearing numbers of several designers. So on cover, the actress showed a blue Versace with a necklace by Tom Binns (magazine readers were flipping for the colorful necklace. Binns called his spectacular creation -which took two days of hand-stringing to make- “Psycho Candy“). Inside the magazine, Michelle was faithful to her favorite designer, Giorgio Armani, wearing this top and jeans (picture #2); but Pfeiffer also proved with a True Religion jaket, D&G jeans, Michael Stars cami and Irene Neuwirth necklace (picture #3); a Martin Grant wool jumpsuit and brass necklace and a Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci patent and stamped leather pumps (picture #4); other of the pictures, perhaps one of my fav ones, Michelle wore an incredible Rachel Roy New York wool crêpe dress and a Irit Design sterling silver necklace with diamonds (picture #5); and at the end, a Donna Karan New York jersey dress, a Magda Berliner leather belt and a Irit Design necklaces and ring in sterling silver with diamonds (picture #6).

And also in the middle of June, Michelle arrived to New York city to do her huge promotion of Cheri in a tour across interviews for domestic and international press and to appear in several talk-shows. I remember that month like a true hurly-burly!

So the 15th of June, the actress was photographed in the door of the Four Seasons Hotel where took place the press conference, and also where she was shooted for several newspapers and magazines, such as Los Angeles Times (June 27) and The Washington Post (June 28). Michelle looked great in a simple jeans and a white t-shirt.

And on June 16th, came a nice pictures of Michelle interviewed for Women’s Wear Daily (WWD) magazine where the actress wore a beautiful black top adorned with a brooch in silver with diamonds.

That night Pfeiffer also did her appearance at the Late Show With David Letterman. The actress was photographed in her arrival to the Ed Sullivan Theater to tape the interview, and style-websites raved with her look, a ’50s-inspired sheath worn with a patent belt and matching peep-toes. Michelle was one of the “looks of the day”.

And in the same night, the actress attended the screening of Chéri alongside David E Kelly and her co-stars Rupert Friend and Kathy Bates and the movie director Stephen Frears. The event was hosted by the Cinema Society and Noilly Prat and held at the Directors Guild of America Theater in New York City. Pfeiffer tied her hairdo back and wore a simple white Valentino dress with a touch of shimmer. Most of pfans loved her look here… I, on the contrary, didn’t like…

The following day, June 17 in the morning, Pfeiffer was interviewed on Good Morning America. The actress, in her line style, showed a simple blue dress… her face looked like radiant.

And that same morning the actress did a spectacular appearance at The View on the ABC alongside Rupert Friend. Michelle wore an black sort outfit and on a very high heels to die. For many of us, it was perhaps one of the the best entrances in show she has done ever.

The 18th of June the actress attended her last talk show for the movie promotion, Michelle was interviewed at the CBS’ Early Show with Harry Smit wearing a simple beautiful purple dress.

It’s time of Christmas, the year is coming to the end… and we all, pfans, pfriends and visitors have lived an intense year following time by time the steps of Michelle Pfeiffer, I think that like an evaluation, it has been a nice year!

Remember this last year in which we’ve watched her in the 15th SAG Awards and discovered her new haircut (!!), we’ve attended alongside Michelle the 59th Berlin Film Festival to present Cheri and we listened her defending her movie in front of the international press… also sadly we have seen her movie Personal Effect launched straigh on DVD, but also we’ve been waiting for the launch of Cheri in USA and her appearances on Talk Shows to promote it… we have read tons of interviews and articles published around the World raving about her performance and Cheri. We have heard new buzz about a possible project with Pierce Brosnan… and lately we have been waiting for some nomination for the main awards…

It has been in a quick look our year… and we have been with Michelle from PfeifferTheFace.com into this new layout using Wordpress (A year now!) where everyone of us have been able to interact each other, and of course we have been adapted to new way of communication such as Facebook (since August) and Twitter (since October) and working very nice!

I can tell you I feel so proud having worked on it!

This year Michelle Pfeiffer could get some nominations on this  year awards for her performance as Lea de Lonval in Cheri (2009). Awards ceremonies such as the Golden Globes, the SAGs and the Oscars, and also the ones given by Critics in several cities, are upcoming.

Although the Michelle’s performance was in every board to get a nomination when the movie was launched, it seems that currenlty that chance is being out of breath… Michelle’s name is not sounding as much as it did. Anyway I think we shouldn’t lose the hopes yet.

The nominees for the 82nd Academy Awards will be announced live on Tuesday February 2, 2010, at 5:38 a.m. PST (13:38 UTC) (8:38 a.m. EST) at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Hollywood, California, by Tom Sherak, president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) and a guest announcer.
The 82nd Academy Awards ceremony will honor the best films of 2009 and will take place in March 7, 2010, at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood, California. It will be televised in the United States on ABC. On June 24, 2009, Academy Award president Sid Ganis announced at a Beverly Hills press conference that there will be ten Best Picture nominees instead of five at next year’s ceremony.
