Normally,
we say that if Humans could see God someday, they would be surprised
by Its appearance, or ¿haven´t u heard before that
“God is a Woman”?. Then, if God were She, there is no
doubt She would have the face and the look of Michelle Pfeiffer.
With all my apologizes to the non-believers, I think there is no
place for any kind of atheism in a world in which she puts her feet
everyday, She, the Pfeiffer. If there is someone in that vanities´
Olympus who represents the Virtue, that´s She/Her.
With a career that started quite close to the limbo of the lost
souls thanks to a calamitous adaptation of that classic called “Grease”,
Michelle Pfeiffer´s filmography early started to turn directly
to Paradise, with De Palma´s help, of course. The lady Hawke,
the woman of the glassy eyes and the marble´s face, became
popular in the eighties and flew off to the Hollywood´s star
system. She hasn´t returned yet.
Michelle Pfeiffer is not one of many, nor a dangerous Liaision.
She doesn´t live in an eternal age of innocence either, because
one fine day she was visited by Mother Fortune….. and She
never left her. Her beauty and talent helped her in the path to
fame, we can´t deny that. But her poison comes from a white
oleander, from the deep end of the ocean, from a temperamental attitude
far from hollywood´s conventionalisms: Pfeiffer is the Queen
that leaves her crown
behind everyday in her children´s room. Some (people) tend
to think that her familiar spirit and her shyness are embittering
her divinity. But it´s probably that it has been the kind
of thing which/that have made of her someone close and distant at
the same time. For us, Peiffer is a woman with various faces: she
is the one who roars over/on our roofs into the night, our loyal
and favourite waitress, the untouchtable diva, the respectable mother,
the Only one in the world who can say “I am Michelle”
when she is mentioned.
Steticists have come recently to the conclusion that she is the
woman who has Every, absolutely every perfect feature we can see
in a human´s face. It´s not difficult to imagine all
that American females, fashion victims of the American way of life,
seated and waiting for their upcoming plastic surgery, taking a
quick look at a catalog full of pfeiffer´s poses. Do the scientists
still believe that nature´s perfection can be imitated?..
Didn´t they learn reading Mary Shelley´s?
Passion for Michelle´s talent and personality is like a faith
question, something you can´t easily explain. As God, we can´t
see her, we “feel” her. Anyone who loves cinema, loves
Pfeiffer, because she represents the splendour of an era (the eighties
and the 90´s), in which we have had a distinct lack of myths,
classic divas like those who existed during the early years of Cinema.
Pfeiffer doesn´t know about autographs and fashion shows,
unless they were essential & justifiable. Sometimes many people
think she is above all that things…and in fact she is. Because,
like old good wines, you can enjoy her more and better with time.
Her voice, her look and her presence in the best shoots of these
latest years doesn´t have anything to envy the youngest Michelle,
who whispered “Making Whopee” to all the screens of
the world over a black piano.
May
be she doesn´t climb pianos or dress black leather clothes
anymore, because now it´s a time for Myth´s rest. As
usually, the biggest ones start at 40 and 50 a new stage in their
careers. A stage of loneliness and sporadic work. But these are
the years in which the best roles of mature women come into their
hands too. Perhaps this is what is gonna happen to her. Till then,
we will keep contemplating the fly of the lady hawke…and who
knows, may be we will hear her scratching our roofs. It will be
better for us to be ready to attend God´s call(ing).
