Photography by Elliot Davis | | | Plot Summary | The story of two strangers, Linda (Michelle Pfeiffer) and Walter (Ashton Kutcher), who have both lost family members to murder. Their respective court cases bring them together.
Linda has a deaf son, who’s become increasingly troubled since his dad was murdered, but it’s Walter who helps him out – teaching him how to wrestle, and therefore funnelling his anger through sport. According the plot offered on the movie page at Voltage Pictures site: Seeking vengeance for the murder of his sister, a young man arrives in town only to be sidetracked by a beautiful older woman with wounds very similar to his own. Through this bond, an unlikely and beautiful romance blooms. How do you heal a wound the world can’t see? With love. | | | About the movie | According some sources, the project would be based on Rick Moody's story "Mansion on the Hill," found in his collection, "Demonology." "The Mansion on the Hill" follows the adventures of narrator Andrew Wakefield as he tries to come to terms with his sister's death - she was killed in a car accident just before her wedding. Coincidentally finding himself employed at a ritzy wedding-planning business, Andrew alternates memories of the past with clunky product-speak descriptions of his job. Following this plot Michelle should play big sis in flashbacks, which might go some way to rendering the 20 year gap between her and Kutcher somewhat realistic. This "new plot" would be away of the original summary offered on the official site of Voltage Films, where there is a romatic story between the star couple. On the other hand, other sources report that it is a "indie" movie and it might be competing on the Berlin or Sun Dance Film Festival. At the moment we haven't more reliable sources. | | | Miscellaneous | The project was in gestation for at least three years, in 2004, David Hollander said he hoped to film "Effects" in Pittsburgh, but after he said even though it would be cheaper to make the movie locally due to currency fluctuations, the film's cast and financiers demanded it film on the West Coast, Vancouver. David Hollander, director and sreenwriter of the movie, is the writer of the CBS series’ The Guardian. | | | Filming Locations | » Vancouver, Canada | | | | | | | The only boundaries are the ones in your heart. | | | Gallery | » Posters
