Michelle Pfeiffer on the “alternative” cover of Fotogramas magazine!!

28 Enero 2010 1,035 views 22 Comments

Spanish pfans know that Fotogramas is the main magazine dedicated to cinema in Spain, that it could be considerated as the Bible of films for Spanish people and besides one of the most important circulation magazines.

In 1996, in a readers poll made for the magazine to pick the most loved actors and actresses, Michelle Pfeiffer got the first place of the list, following Susan Sarandon, Emma Thopmson, Juliette Binoche and Jodie Foster

Now, with the upcoming launch of Chéri in Spain, I wrote a letter to the editorial staff to ask for Michelle Pfeiffer on the cover. The las one was twelve years ago and I think that the magazine owed this one to our Michelle… But sadly they ignored my request and the new cover of the magazine this month features the young Scarlett Johansson, who -sure- has more followers these days.

And after reading the review they have dedicated to Chéri and Pfeiffer in this issue, I could understand their reasons:

“… the movie is a documentary about the present and the future of an actress who was an star and she isn’t so much now

Well, anyway I have to say that it is my favorite magazine, and every cover they have dedicated to Michelle, I’ve celebrated like a great event!. At the moment Michelle has got the cover four times: May, 1989 when Pfeiffer did her wonder-year with Married To The Mob, Tequila Sunrise and Dangerous Liaisons, the three movies coincided at Spanish cinemas in the same time and critics raved with her; In February 1994, thanks to The Age of Innocence –Michelle was on the top of her career–; the third one was in September 1996, with the release of Up Close & Personal; and the last one in May 1998 with A Thousand Acres.

So I’ve made one of my dreams come true!! Here, pfans, we have got our own “alternative” cover of Fotogramas dedicated to Michelle Pfeiffer! I hope you like it! ;-)

It’s really amazing Fran, and when i reading your article and from year 1996… “Michelle Pfeiffer got the first place of the list, following Susan Sarandon, Emma Thopmson, Juliette Binoche and Jodie Foster…” all of these are true talented people and well-respected actresses in the world. I’m wondering if they still make this reader poll again now, but if they do, I’m sure the result will be full of crap and so-called “favorite C-E-L-E-B-R-I-T-I-E-S”!

Great job! And a dangerous one, too! Be careful, my friend. They could be unkind with your photoshop work. But thank you anyway.

I’d say Fotogramas is the best seller cinema magazine in Spain, but I couldn’t call them the ‘Bible of films’ for spanish people. That was a long, long time ago. They’re now an advertisement magazine, they get more sponsors than you could count, even more than a a fashion magazine, they work for them, and they lost their past rigor, in favor of fame, celebrities, sensationalism and box-office, etc.

You could think I talk so because the way they snub Michelle, but that would be far from the truth. I love cinema, all of it, and that’s the reason I don’t trust them anymore. Now I get my film news from the net and other specialized media. Dirigido por, Cahiers du cinema, seem like better options to me.

So they should write ‘… the movie is a documentary about the present and the future of a magazine which was a star and it isn’t so much now.’ It would make much more sense. ;-P

LOL… Tachu! Well, I can be agree with you in part!

Well, actually, they answered me and wrote to me:

“¡Nos encanta tu propuesta de portada! Se nota que eres fan de Fotogramas, Michelle Pfeiffer y también del diseño gráfico. Gracias por ese derroche de creatividad e ingenio. Saludos desde http://www.facebook.com/l/ac847;Fotogramas.es

    isn’t cool? hahaha.. I’m proud!!

Of course Fran you must be proud of your great work an is fantastic that Fotogramas answer you. I would also loved to see Michelle on the cover of this magazine again, as her big return as a star, that would be amazing. Of course the magazine should take in mind the big poll they did some years ago with the readers of the magazien and the first place of Michelle as the best actress of all. But the truth is that if we take in mind about the age average of all the different women that have been in the cover of the magazine for last years, nearly none of them are older than 40.

But Michelle was on the cover with Chéri in “Dirigido por” cinema Spanish movie for example and in “Fotogramas” dedicate 2 pages to Chéri and good reviews.

it must the Michelle ’s choice to be less exposed… that must be the reason why her last years ’s films went to personal role in more confidential films… anyway does it really matter for us ? the more important is that she keeeps in building wonderful characters… no one can ignore that she is one of the more amazing actress of her generation…and of course other young and good actresses comes after her
thanks Fran for reminding us the strong emotions Michelle gave us ( and will give) trough her films… it is still a great pleasure

I think that Michelle will work more when her children are more adult.

And Fran, great, great cover, you are very talented.

Let’s enjoy with Cheri and wait for more films. I’ll have to see Personal Effects.

Next year will be interesting films (as it seems by Sundance Festival) like Kids Are All right with Julianne Moore and Annette Bening as a couple of lesbian with a consolitaded relationship that loof for a man to have children

I would love to see her on the cover of this magazine. The one you did is amazing, Fran. And yes, let’s all just enjoy the work she does. Chéri was great, I just hope she’ll keep on working on more movies.

lol wow I didn’t mean to write all that. Anyway I wanted to take back that last statement, it was way too harsh. I’m sure we’ll enjoy whatever project she signs on to do next, if there is a project at all. Gotta stay positive.

  • Dennis said:

@Elsa: I’m not on Facebook anylonger.
I wasn’t sure about this woman being Michelle… if it ain’t Michelle, she’s a great look-alike, with a bit more flesh on the bones…^^

  • Fran (author) said:

@ Dennis: What’s happen? no more facebook?? why??
About the pics,we think she could be DeeDee Pfeiffer…

  • Fran (author) said:

@Dennis: Are you in love?? ;-))))))

  • Dennis said:

no, Deedee doesn’t have this wide jawline, that Michelle has… I’m still not sure abot that pic…at first I thought it’s not Michelle, but the haircut could make this impression… well, we’ll see… ^^

Why do you think, that I’m in love? ^^

  • Dennis said:

I think it’s our lady… the short hair just makes her look a bit different, but take a look at this picture… on the one with the short hair, she’s just smiling a bit more… but the facial structure is the same…

    Hello, Dennis.
I think she’s not. Look at her nose, and her legs.

  • Dennis said:

@tachu: yeah, her nose is the one point which I’m not sure about… I haven’t seen her legs on that picture (because they took it down and I just saw this previ pic)
