Miramax presents ‘Cheri’ For Your Consideration 2009

25 Noviembre 2009 1,353 views 15 Comments

Do you think that Michelle Pfeiffer could get an Academy Award nomination still?… Lately Michelle’s name is not sounding as much as it did, although after all who is talking about possible contenders for nominations at the moment are simple bloggers who discuss about simply speculations… the true campaign is starting now. So I think that our Pfeiffer can still get that we all are hoping for…

Cheri (2009)

We have now nice news: Miramax is promoting three films to this awards season, and Cheri is among them (the other ones are The Boys Are Back directed by Scott Hicks and starring Clive Owen, and Everybody’s Fine by Kirk Jones, starring Robert De Niro, Kate Beckinsale and Drew Barrymore). It is scheduled that these three films have special screenings for academics and voters of all kind of awards (but especially Oscars, Golden Globes, Baftas, Producers Guild and all the important awards).

So it will start the “for your consideration” marketing for this 3 films.

I’m not so sure about this. There were screening schedule for CHERI on this site back to few weeks ago. But now you can see that it’s empty on the CHERI page, and pretty full for the rest of other 2 movies…well…I don’t have high expectation.

michelle deserves it but i am disapointed that the press dosent seem to be in favour of her as they were at the start of awards buzz!!

Plus what bond says is correct, i cant see any screening dates either

Miramax should be promoting Cheri hard. It’s not a brilliant year for them, you know, and campaign for DeNiro and Pfeiffer makes sense to me.
And I would like to see Michelle nominated for some awards, and doing some red carpet. I think this could be more important than simply winning. It could serve to make Pfans happy, it could be a reminder to people and industry that she hasn’t gone, and it could bring her new roles, new projects…. So many times a nomination brings new opportunities, while winning is oblivion…

It is true Tachu, I think that there will be screenings and for your consideration.

But all o us must write to MiramaxGolden, Globes, etc, and they could see that Pffeifer and the film are loved by a lot of pfans.

Pffeifer, best actress of the year ad of all the years¡

Those are the Pro & Con comments on Michelle Pfeiffer possibilities for Cheri:

Pro: Legendary star returns to period finery in a role that’s a smooth fit. Way overdue for gold.
Con: Reviews weren’t hot and years away from the game aren’t helping. Not one to campaign for prizes which is a big problem.
Variable: The Golden Globes. If they ignore her in Comedy, it’s over.

  • Marc said:

Even in my opinion, for the golden globes i consider she should be nominated as best actress in drama, not in comedy…

    Push for Michelle¡
