Michelle Pfeiffer: Next Vampiric Role?
Since I watched Robert Pattinson in Twilight and I felt in love with him and his alter-ego, the vampire Edward Cullen (Twilight is, perhaps, the movie which I’ve watched more times after Ladyhawke and Dangerous Liaisons -OMG! I look like a teenager-girl!!)… well, I’ve actually been a vampires fan since I discovered my own sexuality… So, of course, one of my dreams would be to see to Michelle Pfeiffer playing a vampire…

And now, our dear Nathaniel -in his The Film Experience- brings to us an amazing buzz about our Michelle and the possibility of a new project about VAMPIRES!!! Wouldn’t be it wonderful?
These have been the words of Nathaniel, you can find the news in his wonderful blog:
Exclusive Buzz: Pfeiffer with Pfangs
Rumor Alert!
Or, rather, ‘Possiblity Alert’! And one you haven’t heard yet. The other evening at a dinner party, I chatted briefly with writer/director Amy Heckerling (of Clueless fame). Since her very last feature I Could Never Be Your Woman starred Michelle Pfeiffer, you know I couldn’t resist gushing about my favorite actress. The conversation quickly drifted to Saoirse Ronan, who played Pfeiffer’s daughter in that film. Heckerling was very proud to have discovered her (…Woman preceeding Atonement, production-wise) and wouldn’t you be?Leaving the party later, I wished Heckerling well on her new comedy Vamps which should go before cameras in the spring. Remembering me as that weirdly obsessed pfan-guy, Heckerling clasped her hands together in supplication and said ‘I hope I get Pfeiffer for it.’
[Collective Pfan Gasp!]
Has an offer gone out? Could Pfeiffer finally have a vampiric role? The movie is still in preproduction with only Kristen Ritter signed. IMDB describes the comedy like so…Two female vampires in modern-day New York City are faced with daunting romantic possibilities
One assumes with Ritter in the lead that the two vamps are young women… but perhaps Pfeiffer could be a ruling bloodsucker? A vampire queen? Pfeiffer has been leaning towards the wicked and showy supporting bits since her comeback (Hairspray, Stardust) and I know one or one-hundred pfans* who have long fantasized about Michelle sinking her teeth into that sort of role. There’s just something about her ferocity. The closest we ever got was her lupine beauty in Wolf.
*This post is dedicated to my pfellow uber-pfans on the net: Fran, Noelle, and Morrissey
I just can say… Nat, I love u!
I remember now, the latest news around about Michelle as a vampire… Michelle Pfeiffer in True Blood?

Rumor Alert!

AWWWW , TWILIGHT ♥♥♥♥♥
Sounds interesting but Amy Heckerling again? Would hope this wont turn into another ICNBYW.
Well, I have to disagree. I hate Twilight!
Here we go.
I found it sooo boring, faked, insincere, false, affected, insipid, ridiculous, dull, sexist, male chauvinist, sex-free and conservative that I could lose my faith in youth and cinema all at once.
I can’t stand such a lame movie, teenager trash in my opinion-teenagers deserve so much better-, clearly filmed as little more than a merchandising product, the beggining of a lucrative franchise. I would have gone without blink if Hanna Montana had suddenly appeared as another pale gang member. It all has a disney-esque stink. What I found more frustating is that some teenagers fans don’t even feel insulted by the film propositions, they lionise it. Amazing.
It seems amazing to me that anyone can resist to see that thing from start to end even once. The movie makes me laugh aloud in moments it’s not supposed to do it. Seriously, can you stop laughing at that pair of dummies running at high speed in the mountains, scaling trees and making postures at the tree branches in the wood? Oh, please! Too much for a candid soul, and a far cry from the Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon poetry.
I found the main couple incapable of acting, completed with stiff faces, thin bodies, and very thin talent. I still ask myself what all the fuss is about.
The only explanation I can find to the success of this film is that some people find attractive the hairdressed male protagonist. It’s a big mistery for me how this can happen, but atraction is a subjective thing so I can accept it. And the other reason would be that people somehow identify themselves in an alienated role like the main couple’s… And the movie is about ‘cool’ vamps, after all…Who can resist to vamps?
And after the riot act, I’m feeling a little better, so I’ll add that I think the film’s atmosphere and music can be saved as well.
So, returning to topic, I hope Michelle’s vampire role to be a more interesting one, even without the teenager acclaim. A comedy would feel all right, if made properly. Not that I retain much love for Amy Heckerling’s films,…but Michelle can have fun with it, while she doesn’t forget to work with some good directors-screenwriters soon…
hahahah ahhahaha Tachu!! OMG! I think you are so relaxed now!!
Well.. if it helps you.. I have to tell you that the main reason because I love this movie… is because Robert Pattinson in it!! (even I don’t care the actor in other films but only in this one!! ;-P)
Oh, thanks, I feel so much better now… Twilight was aired yesterday on TV and I tried to give it a second chance, but it’s unbearable….. So I was ready to comment when I read your post. I respect you to like Robert in this film,of course, but I can’t share that feeling. May I ask what do you find attractive in him?
I dont see Michelle doing this film. Its just a rumor at the moment but hopefully we’ll here more in the next couple of months.
fingers crossed!!!! but if there is a lot of location work will she go for if her kids are in school???
The film is to shoot in New York and I remember Michelle saying at the Cheri premiere she would love to make another movie in NY.
id love to see michelle in a vampire film and i know michelle loves vampires but after icnbyw im unsure wether she would work alongside this director again
i really hope so though…. im not so sure about it being a comedy though. I thought that icnbyw had alot of bad jokes in it and maybe if there was another director involved in would get excited about this
Michelle Pfieffer would make an excellent vampire. Beautiful, thin, and pale…all she needs are the fangs which you have supplied. If she needs practice biting people in the neck I might be inclined to volunteer.
The Twilight saga and the couple of main actors of this films doesn’t interest me to talk about a mere few sconds, he,he.
I think ichelle will do this film because she loves vampire roles (as she has said in a lot of interviews)
I Could Never Be Your Woman it’s one of the worst ichelle films but Amy Heckerling did a very, very good job in Clueless¡¡ I think all depends, as always, of the screenplay.
And to all the fans, please all of you write to Miramax to push that Michelle gets the nomination to Oscar for Cheri¡¡¡
If Pfeiffer has to do a vampire role I would hope it’s in a film adaptation of Merc Behm’s “Ice Maiden”, which, for those who haven’t read it, is a combination of “Ocean’s Eleven” but with vampires. This does not sound too interesting to me (unless it’s a kick-ass lead role), especially if it’s geared towards the pointless remakes and sequels crowd that studios have been catering to lately. I would rather see Pfeiffer in another serious role, be it drama or dark comedy. I’m still hoping Garry Marshall cast her instead of Annette Bening opposite Richard Gere in his remake of “State of the Union”. I’ve been waiting for a Gere/Pfeiffer movie since she left “Mr. Jones” to do “Batman Returns”.
@Benjamin:
I agree with Michelle Pfeiffer-Richard Gere couple. Did you know that there was another project for both in 1995 called ‘Higgings & Beach’ about the story of two journalists during the Korea War? But finally Michelle turned down to do “Up Close & Personal”.
@Alex: Are you sure that Michelle has told that she loves vampire movies? I don’t remember any interview with she talking about it… ;-)
FRAN- THANX FOR HAVING SUCH A GREAT SITE DEDICATED TO MICHELLE PFEIFFER. YOU DONT KNOW ME YET AND WELL IM FROM SAN DIEGO, CA.
I DONT THINK THAT PFEIFFER SHOULD DO THIS FILM, ITS A WASTE OF HER TALENT AND WELL HER TIME. I WISH I CAN SEE HER IN MORE BIG BUDGET FILMS IN ACTION OR DRAMA, AND HOPES SHE STAYS AWAY FROM LOW LOW BUDGET INDIE FILMS. IT WOULD BE NICE TO SEE HER AS A VAMPIRE BUT A EVIL VAMPIRE VS. SHARON STONE…CLASSIC! I WISH I COULD SEE PFEIFFER IN MOVIES W BRAD PITT, TOM CRUISE, RICHARD GERE AND GEORGE CLOONEY, AGAIN. REMEMBER WHAT LIES BENEATH WAS A SMASH BECAUSE IT HAD HER IN A HORROR FILM, SHE NEEDS TO DO MORE OF THAT.
RAMIRO OF SAN DIEGO, CA.
@Ramiro: I agree with u! thinking on Pfeiffer + Stone… OMG! I could die for!! It would be amazing! of course!
And… you are really welcome!!!! I hope hear about you many times more! ;-)
Wasn’t Richard Gere rumored to be in She’s Gone with Michelle? The movie which was never made. Sorry but I hope I never see Michelle in a movie with Sharon Stone. Would love to see her act with Jodie Foster though and I’m still waiting for the day when Michelle and Brad make a live action film together.
Michelle has been always interested to work with other women to defend her power in Hollywood business, like she did joining Jessica Lange in “A thousand Acrees” or all the actresses of “White Oleander” for example. I have always thought it was a pitty that Michelle, Sharon Stone and maybe Kim Basinger or Julia Roberts or Jodie Foster, didn’t get together in a film in the 90’s to demonstrate all her power in the Hollywood business, instead of been co-starting with an actor.
Who knows, maybe Scorsese that has directed Michelle and also Stone, could think about a movie with both…
Actually Pfeiffer turned down “Higgins and Beech” because she was pregnant. After she gave birth it was announced Elisabeth Shue was going to replace her, but the film was shelved because of its budget.
Forgot to mention that in 1993 Richard Donner was supposed to direct Pfeiffer in an adaptation of Anne Rice’s “The Witching Hour” about a beautiful neurosurgeon who learns she is the descendent of a powerful line of witches. (I remember because there was an announcement for extras in New Orleans where the film was supposed to be shot and I was going to drive out there). But the studio shelved it because (believe it or not) it didn’t have a strong male lead role! The studio instead focused on “Interview With a Vampire”. Pfeiffer wound up doing “Dangerous Minds” instead. I really wish they made this one. But I believe they can still make it with Pfeiffer in the lead role.
@Benjamin: Thanks for the info about “Higgins…”.
But I didn’t know about the “The Witching Hour”… OMG!! Can you believe that it is one of my favorite books? I’ve read the three first parts. I remember when I was reading it, I used imagine in my mind Michelle as Rowan Mayfair, the main character!! wow… I had wished Michelle had played it!!
I think that we have find a new “real” pfan here!! I’m so so so glad!!!! OMG!
Thanks, Fran. Before the internet I subscribed to Daily Variety magazine for about 20 years. It was the bible for productions on upcoming films. And after “Witches of Eastwick” Pfeiffer’s name was attached to many projects. For example, after “Baker Boys”, Pfeiffer was set to star in a film called “Little Havana” with Ruben Blades. The film was made and retitled “Fires Within” with Jimmy Smits and Greta Scacchi, and Pfeiffer did “The Russia House” instead. There was also “Significant Other” that at one point Garry Marshall was going to direct with Tom Hanks and Pfeiffer, who was replacing the original star Debra Winger (as she had done with “Baker Boys”). The film was eventually made with Andy Garcia and Meg Ryan and was retitled “When A Man Loves A Woman”. I do have plenty of information on other potential film projects which I tore out of the magazines and kept. I can search for them and tell you what other films she was supposed to do.
If Michelle doesnt do this movie then I hope it wont be long before we hear of a definate project. That will be nearly 2 years ago we heard she was doing Cheri and there has been nothing really since.
Yes i am getting all anxious waiting for new projects from michelle
@Fran¡¡
Yes , I read in the net, interviews with her in which she said that she always have loved vampires and when she was very young she liked to dress as a vampire in parties or something like that.
I’ve searched this interview but I don’t found, but I swear that she said that¡
All the people to write to Miramax¡
Today I’m going to write to the Golden Globes¡¡

THANX FRAN FOR COMMENTING BACK, IM JUST SO ANXIOUS TO SEE WHAT PFEIFFER DOES NEXT BECAUSE SHE SADLY TAKES SO LONG IN MAKING A NEW MOVIE. I ONLY WISH THAT WARNER BROS, WOULD GIVE HER A CHANCE TO DO CATWOMAN AGAIN- EVEN IF IT WAS JUST A SHORT CAMEO AND DIES OR SOMETHING PASSING THE TORCH TO A CLOSE FRIEND OR FAMILY MEMBER, BUT TO SEE HER WEAR THAT CATSUIT WOULD BE GREAT!
I hate twilight. everyone i talk to loves it. but it’s just so feke and tacky. I read the book 1st, a long time before the film and i kinda liked it. but that got totally spoiled by the movie. It was such a dissapointment.
I believe good vampire movies can be made, with a lot of effort, a good story and amazing actors. I would like to see michelle in one of those movies, but it has to be really classy.
Also, I would love to see her in an action film with brad pitt. or maybe jodie foster. And an other film with George clooney!
My sister brought Twilight home for us to watch, and we both hated it immensely. It was one of the worst movies I have ever seen in my life. Horribly acted too. And just BORING. I love real dramas that are slow, like The Hours. Slow doesn’t = bad. But Twilight was just mind numbingly slow and the “action” was a joke that was several levels below the action in Buffy The Vampire Slayer.
I downloaded New Moon to see Taylor Lautner’s scenes (bc he’s hot). There was about 7 minutes of footage with him in it, and I only watched those minutes. Even though he was SO HOT, I found those scenes dreadfully boring. I could barely sit through it once without asking “when is it over when is it over?”
I doubt I could’ve made it through the whole movie. Both Twilight and New Moon are examples of why the world doesn’t make any sense whatsoever. How can these two horrible movies make so much money? Bc the world is fcked, that’s why.
And I hate to diss your man Fran, but he was the second worst part of the movie. The first would be Kirsten Stewart. I have had bowel movements with more stage presence than that girl.
She tries to look melancholic (like Michelle Pfeiffer) in so many scenes, but it just comes across as her looking bored. And I’m clearly more bored than she is, just watching her. I won’t say anything about Pattinson bc I respect you ; ) but hell Fran, you’re better looking than he is, and he’s supposed to be a celebrity. All he has is a nice jaw, everything else about him is lose-lose-lose.
