What will come into the upcoming InStyle’s July issue

Michelle Pfeiffer on the cover of July issue of InStyle, 2009Such as we have announced this morning, Michelle Pfeiffer will be the next cover of the magazine, and the InStyle site is already showing an advance of what will come with the magazine. So for example, that Michelle is photographed by Mark Abrahams and that she is wearing on the pic-cover is a Versace dress, a Tom Binns necklace and her own ring, and it announces the main theme of the interview, of course about aging, so the cover says: “Michelle Pfeiffer, On What She’s Learned…” and the site advances:

Once you turn 50, you feel grateful you made it. Because you’ve lived long enough that you’ve lost people you love. You realize you’re on your second half, that your time is finite here. I want to make the time I have count.”

It will be fourth cover of InStyle with Michelle on cover, let’s remember the other three issues: in Fall 1997 coinciding with the launch of A Thousand Acres (but in an article around the 10 Best Dressed); the second in February of 2002 for the promotion of I Am Sam; and the third one in August of 2006 for the promotion of I Could Never Be Your Woman which was scheduled to be released in September.

Besides the website offers an wonderful and extensive gallery about Michelle Pfeiffer: Then and Now, in 5 steps using some of the new upcoming pictures and quotes of the interview that we will be able to read…

Michelle Pfeiffer photographed by Mark Abrahams for InStyle

“There are women who just genetically have beautiful bodies, it seems to us they don’t have to work out. I personally have to work at it. I’m doing all the right things. I do cardio and strength training, a little bit of weights. I mix it up, but I can’t push myself the way I used to.”

When Pfeiffer is asked how she dresses her age:

“I can’t wear a skirt that’s too short anymore. It’s not that my legs are bad, it just look silly. I feel less pressure to dress youthfully. I’m 50 and everyone knows I’m 50—who are you kidding? Jeans are my uniform. I have about 15 pairs.”

Pfeiffer also talks about her role in Chéri:

“[My character] is a woman of immense dignity, an incredibly kind honorable person. I love that. To incorporate all the nuance of the character and the relationship is a challenge. Even though I don’t feel I need approval, it’s still important to me to give a good performance. I’m hard on myself.”

About Armani, says the actress , who has been friends with the Italian designer for more than 20 years—and even served as the face of an Armani Spring/Summer ad campaign in 2005:

“I’ve worn Armani for years—he never lets me down. His lines are always right and the fabric hangs just so. Simple is always best. Some of my favorite items are those that may not look like much on the hanger, then you try them on and they take on a whole new life.”

And of course, Michelle talks about her family:

“When my daughter turned 15 it hit me how little time I had left with her at home. It becomes harder and harder for me to go back to work. I still care about my work, but my plate is just so full with everything else. It’s got to be something I really, really want to do in order for me to pack up and leave.”

Well, they are little bits of an interview that promises to be very interesting… isn’t it?

So good to have new interviews and Instyle July “cover” magazine. Hope we can see her in others too.
I like how she consider that even with her great career she still working to do a good performance in her roles and how she accept that she has 50 and explains that she know she can look silly with a too short skirt (Do you remember the “short skirt” scene in ICNBYW?)

  • laura said:

she looked HOT in that skirt lol

  • Tasha said:

thats the thing though – at 50 she CAN look hot in a mini skirt how many others her age can say that???

  • Sandy said:

WOW, She looks amazing in that black dress.

Does anybody know if this cover and the story will also be in the German version of InStyle?
    I hope so!!!

  • bond said:

I don’t like that white demin jacket set personally, it looks very strange with those necklace and the whole outfit doesn’t suit for her hair style at all! LOL

But I like the evening dress, and I expect more from the book!

Can’t believe that they actually choose the SAME smile of her everytime, come on! Be create pls Instyle! XD

  • Elsa said:

Yeah I’ve notice that too Bond: always the same smile…
I also wish they could photograph her OUTSIDE like in the nature for example not always in a studio…

  • Tim said:

All that harsh outdoor lighting won’t do favors for her face though.

  • warholmuse said:

She look sublime on the cover. Personally, I like her with less curly hair. I think she looks best with semi-wavy hair like she had at the Los Angeles Hairspray premiere.

  • laura said:

    I love her hair

yeah elsa we were talkin about how wonderful and outdoor photoshoot would be, but yeah it may be harsh on her face >> SHE WOULD still look beautiful, but it’s not what people want to see SADLY all the time

I want a wonderful big photoshoot in lots of outfits and in a wonderful period house etc

  • Sandy said:

I think the black dress would have been an excellent Oscar outfit.

  • laura said:

she’s got amazing figure, Im sure most people my age would die for that figure and Im only 20

  • Tasha said:

i would deffo die for her figure!! + i have 2 say that i agree with warholmuse – i preferred her hair in 2007. although – saying that – she could shave her head and wear a bin bag + still look fabulousa!!!

  • laura said:

shes had long hair for so long maybe she got bored…. Yeah she would look great with no hair lol PLEASE DONT THOUGH

  • warholmuse said:

I remember buying her first ever cover on InStyle (1997) when i was 12 (in my early days of fandom)! I still have it stocked away in my Pfeiffer magazine collection. ;)

  • Dennis said:

The last time Michelle was on the cover of the US Instyle, it took MONTHS till she also was on the German Instyle.
I’m really looking forward to that issue (I’ll buy the US one)

  • bond said:

She looks really skinny in the black dress.

I was crazy about her outdoor photoshoot back to 1993 for Vanity Fair, also 1997 for Los Angeles, these photoshoot were taken in beach, really natural and beautiful!

  • tachu said:

I agree with Bond’s comments. Absolutely.
But I do think that Michelle could stand outdoor lighting very well. I think there are different types of beautiful outdoor light that could bring out wonderful pictures. You can play with filters and Photoshop as well, as they do with studio pics!

It would be great if she could be in W cover this year…
