Miramax has finally unveiled the waited domestic trailer for Stephen Frears‘ Chéri. Check out the trailer below, it has got new footage of Michelle Pfeiffer, really great!
Let’s remember that Cheri is set to hit theaters on June 26 and is likely to be remembered throughout the rest of the year and into Oscar season if it lives up to the buzz.
Also you can check the official site for the movie in USA here: Cheri-Movie.com (at the moment only with the video uploaded) and the trailer out in high-definition at Apple. And waiting for an official poster for the States, they have launched a teaser poster (which actually I don’t understand at all)

Those few new scenes from the movie are radiant! I love her. While I watched the movie at it’s world-premiere, I already thought that she looked like in “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” in the scene shown at 1:11 of this trailer.
That what i thought when i watched the trailer just now, when she is layed on the bed her hair flowing that she looked so much like in a midsummers nights dream
great trailer!!!
Can films that come out in like may, june still be considered for oscars???
Yeah June will still be considered for Oscars.
Really cant wait to see this movie now.
Cant wait to see her at the premiers and talk shows.
In the scene where the woman is running down the red carpet – is that Michelle?
well, “the silence of the lambs” was released in February 1991… and so many more…
@Sandy: No, that’s NOT Michelle. It’s the mother of Edmee (The wife of Cheri)
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!SPOILER-WARNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Don’t read the following if you don’t want to know what scene the red-carpet clip if from.
SPOILER following:
As mentioned it’s Edmee’s mother. that scene takes place right after the wedding of Edmee and Cheri. The wedding-picture was taken and a second later Edmee’s mother runs off. The man she’s running to is her new lover.
how did you find this out, dennis?!
I like they added some good reviews in the trailer and see new scenes. The “french” web page with the poster image and the different stills, synopsis and videos was better than this new site, hope they will include more info soon.
i am so excited to see this film!!!!
lets hope she tours the talk shows as she did for hairspray/stardust
@Harriet: I already saw Cheri at the world premiere at the Berlin Film Festival in February. ( together with Michelle ^^)
They will. And I like this ‘new’ trailer more. HD feels so good to the film. Now we can see the exquisite atmosphere much better. And I love the new Pfeiffer scenes.
I think it could be considered for awards season, if it has a decent box office, enough word of mouth, and the adequate marketing campaign.
But who cares? The important thing is it to be a pretty good film, imo.
Really hope that a new Michelle movie is announced soon too.
Whahaha!
Dennis, naughty boy, don’t show off.^^
YEAH LETS HOPE PATHE FILMS etc do a better job at promoting cheri then paramount did for stardust!!!!
I have read a few blogs about people who have seen the movie and they have said that Michelle is fantastic in the closing stages of the movie
yeah sandy i have also heard about the end scene and everyones saying its great
Even Darius Khondji, cinematographer of Cheri refused to shoot her in a less flattering light. Because he was too painful to behold. He was heartbroken when he was shooting the final scene. He was like “I can’t do this any MOREEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!”………….Stephen Frears said “That’s it!”
i like how michelle isnt afraid to be shown in less flattering lights!
she is very brave
The end is really exceptional !! It’s just WOW !! Especially when you see the movie in big screen ^^ but yeah, for me, it was something I never saw before…
ELSA IT IS SO HARD FOR ME NOT TO ASK YOU TO TELL ME EVERYTHING OVER MSN NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
AS I SAID ON FACEBOOK……..do not EVEN IF I BEG BEG BEG tell me haha
I really hope she gets an Oscar nom for this. Surely if not an oscar then at least a golden globe nom.
As much as I can’t wait for this movie, and as much as I love this trailer, I have to admit, that if I knew nothing about this movie, I would have no idea what this movie is about by watching this trailer haha. I mean really it doesn’t explain anything in terms of plot or premise. It really has nothing to do with the actual story of Cheri.
Which is fine by me bc the Personal Defects trailer told you everything (the whole movie basically) and that was horrible!
This seems to be the complete opposite of that travesty.
Can anyone who has seen Cheri tell me what chance Michelle Pfeiffer has of actually winning the best actress Oscar next year?
She most likely will get enough good buzz this whole year to get an Oscar nomination, but I want to know her chance of actually winning.
Well it would be unfair not to give a nomination this year because she ’s brilliant in the whole movie…HOPE THE ACADEMY will remenber that she has been forgotten for a lot of memorable roles… If she gets a nom I think she could win this year …Unless a lot of good others movies makes Cheri be forgotten
can’t wait it…
i have no idea when can i watch this movie in Hong Kong’s theater.
hope in this year ASAP
OooHhh I LOVED THAT!! I simply cannot wait until Cheri is out, I’m sooo EXCITED already I can’t believe it!! I havent been this excited since when Michelle made her comeback in Hairspray! (OMG that was an awesome film!!) I love her hair in this btw!! xx Forever Michelle xx
[...] Salvation… I was sure that it would be a mistake. But later, seeing the success of the domestic trailer by Miramax in internet —there is a great expectation in several sites on the net—, so I’ve begun to think that [...]
